Holly Folly, Provincetown Event, Cape Cod Winter Activities

If you’re thinking of visiting Provincetown to enjoy Cape Cod winter activities before the end of 2011 and into 2012, now is the perfect time!  The excess of Thanksgiving is over, the Lobster Pot Christmas Tree is lit, and the Holly Folly Weekend is imminent.  This annual Provincetown Event is the official kick-off of the Christmas season!

The 15th Annual Holly Folly Weekend
The only GLBT holiday festival in the world, this weekend features the Shop Hop (shopping at our unparalleled Commercial Street shops), toy drive, cookie parties, holiday light competitions, holiday sing-alongs, parties, and performances.  The question is: What ISN’T there to do during the 2011 Holly Folly? Some specific events are listed below, but there are many, many more activities to be found in P-Town during this monumental weekend.  A full list can be found at the Holly Folly website.

Land’s End Holiday Gala Celebration & Tree Trimming
This event marks the start of the Holly Folly Weekend with friends, music, food, and drinks! Tanzania’s Baobab Home, which provides services and support to those with HIV and poverty, benefits from a silent auction. Hosted by the Land’s End, a historic seaside inn, the celebration is open to the public.
December 2, 2011: 6 – 9 PM (FREE)

Crown and Anchor’s ‘Tis the Season for Giving Drag Show
The Cape Cod AIDS Support Group benefits from this phenomenal fundraiser, featuring performances by P-Town’s incomparable drag queens!  At the Crown and Anchor.
December 2, 2011: 9 PM – 12 AM ($10/ticket)

Official Welcome Party for Boston Gay Men’s Chorus
Come join us for a meet-and-greet with the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus at The Brass Key’s Shipwreck Lounge. Complimentary Snacks.
December 3, 2011: 8:30 PM ($27.00/ticket)

Souper Saturday
Many local restaurants will feature a variety of soups for $5 a bowl. Proceeds benefit the Soup Kitchen In Provincetown, whose goal is to provide nutritious and healthful meals in a welcoming and warm atmosphere to all individuals in the community who are either in need or seek community.
December 3, 2011: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM ($5.00/bowl)

Holly Folly Inn Stroll
A number of area B and Bs open their doors to share holiday cheer. Enjoy light refreshments and fabulous decorations at a number of P-Town’s inns, including our own Carpe Diem Guesthouse and SpaPrince Albert Guest House, and White Wind Inn.

Again, these are just highlights!  There are a dozen or more activities to enjoy this weekend!  The Holly Folly Headquarters will be located at the Old Firehouse (between Town Hall and Adam’s) on Commercial Street, and you can get your official Holly Folly Program here.
