Everyone knows that P-Town is the place where absolutely anyone can be comfortable in their own skin. Being true to yourself and who you are is not only normal here, it is encouraged and celebrated. It is for this reason that Provincetown hosts so many great events, whether they be for the guys, for the gals, for families, or for special interests.
Every year, beginning on Columbus Day, a week-long fall celebration for the girls takes place to provide one last chance to enjoy some fun and entertainment before settling in for the winter. The Distinctive Inns of Provincetown welcome you during Women’s Week on October 8-14, 2012!
Once school starts and the weather starts cooling down, New England tourism usually falls off, even though fall is a perfect time to visit with comfortable days, crisp nights, and beautiful foliage. Back in 1984, a group of women innkeepers got together to talk about bringing women back to town during the fall season, both for the good of their businesses and for the good of the town. They decided to host a Clambake and offer a bit of entertainment, inviting guests from that summer to return for the gathering.
They had absolutely no idea that this one simple weekend would turn into what has become one of the most anticipated events of the year!
When you look through the schedule of events, you’ll understand just how much the event has grown and taken on a life of its own. Over 150 activities are offered over the 7-day period, easily accommodating the approximately 2500 attendees to the festival. Choose from cruises, comedy and musical performances, films, dune tours, workshops, book signings, dancing, the traditional Clambake, yoga and well-being, food events, the craft fair, casino night, golf tournament (scramble), touch football, Drag King Contest, and so much more!
Some of the “main events” are listed below. However, don’t think for a moment that these are your only choices! If these activities don’t interest you, there are always alternatives going on simultaneously. Please note that some activities during the week require ticket purchases. Be sure to check out the Women’s Week Schedule to see all the activities happening during the week, and which ones require a ticket purchase to attend.
