Each and every inn of the Distinctive Inns of Provincetown are just that: distinctive. Whether a B and B has a significant history, amazing grounds, first-rate decor and accommodations, or interesting back story (or any mix of all these reasons), there is a reason that they have been granted membership into our group. The dedication of our members is second to none, guests are guaranteed a wonderful and memorable stay at our member properties. It is in this spirit that we brag on each and every one of them over the next several weeks.
Proprietor Robert Sanborn and Innkeeper Stephen Young invite you to what is collectively known as the Prince Albert Guest House at 164 and 166 Commercial Street. Their location on the fashionable west end across from the P-Town Harbor offers luxurious accommodations within walking distance of the beach, and area shops, restaurants, and attractions. Why not choose Provincetown’s Crown Jewels as your Cape Cod lodging choice?
Prince Albert Guest House itself is active participant in many of the town’s special events. During Holly Folly, the doors are opened wide for the Inn Stroll open house event where visitors and locals alike can enjoy the Holiday decorations, and see the historic beauty of these two bed and breakfast homes.
With over 130 years of hospitality history, Prince Albert’s 18 guest rooms welcome those from far and wide to enjoy a Massachusetts getaway. In fact, P.A. recently welcomed the likes of John Cameron Mitchel (of Hedwig and the Angry Inch fame… also who wrote, directed, and produced Shortbus) and Carson Kressley (fashion and entertainment icon – see photo). Mr. Kressley even hung out in the courtyards during Carnival and agreeably posed for photos with both guests and those just passing by!
But why should YOU choose Prince Albert’s? Well, besides the previously mentioned “dream accommodations,” and the first-rate amenities, there are a few other reasons that may convince you:
Recently renovated, the three beautifully-landscaped and welcoming courtyards flow into each other, forming Provincetown’s largest outdoor living area, right on Commercial Street, making them the perfect spot to relax, people watch, and just pass the day away. If there happens to be a major event or parade happening on P-town’s main drag, a huge party is hosted on the grounds – many times with a theme that reflects the happenings – so that guests have the perfect place from which to observe right on the property! Many who book rooms at Prince Albert Guest House are actually people who have passed by in the past, and then planned a subsequent stay at Prince Albert Guest House just because of the amazing gardens and courtyards.
The Inn’s outdoor spaces are also the perfect settings for small weddings or gatherings for approximately 40-50 people (or less). Each wedding at the Inn has been a little different, but all are special. Clam bakes, reunions, birthdays, and team building gatherings have also been hosted at the Guest House and on the gorgeous grounds.
The expanded Continental Breakfast features the Inn’s famous Belgian waffles. Coupled with the amazing coffee, fresh seasonal fruits, and all the traditional choices of our breakfasts, you will be ready for whatever activities you have planned for the day.
The back garden boasts a hot tub currently located under the shelter of a canopy. Mesh sides can be pulled closed to keep any irritating insects from ruining your relaxation. The hot tub is open from May through November for guests’ use.
Continued Property Improvements
The proprietor and innkeeper are dedicated to continually improving the properties to enhance the bed and breakfast experience for their guests. As stated above, the courtyards and gardens have recently been updated , as have Rooms 1 and 2. Additional updates are sure to happen in the near future, whether they are needed, or whether they are to simply things that will make guests even more pleased with their stay.
As pet-friendly inn, guests and their pets will be greeted (and amused) by the B and B’s pet ambassador, Shelby (a yellow lab rescue). The inn’s location on the beach makes walks/runs on the beach with your canine convenient. Shelby might even initiate doggie tours and play!
Prince Albert Guest House certainly looks forward to your getaway stay! It is never too early to plan a winter retreat, or look forward to all the great P-Town events that bring visitors to our great town. no matter the reason for your stay, Prince Albert House is a great lodging option. As an FYI, the theme for Carnival 2013 (from August 18-24) is Viva Las Vegas, and those at 164-166 Commercial Street will be celebrating the occasion!
