Distinctive Inns of Provincetown Highlight: White Wind Inn

Innkeepers Michael Valenti and Rob Tosner welcome you to their beautiful Victorian Mansion at the center of Provincetown!  The White Wind Inn is located near the center of town at 174 Commercial Street near Winthrop Street, meaning you’re never far from the action, nor are you ever far from this beautiful inn.  This stately bed and breakfast was built in 1845 by someone who should know how to put a structure together:  a shipbuilder.  Michael and Rob offer friendly hospitality for all, and hope you enjoy your stay!

You’ll know you’re at the right place when you see the stone wall out front, built from rounded rocks that were used to add weight and stability to ships (a.k.a. “ballast”).  A large, welcoming porch will tempt you to spend some time relaxing and watching the world go by.

Once inside, this grand mansion will take your breath away, even as it charms you.  Michael and Rob have made an effort to integrate antiques throughout the inn, and to preserve the architectural features you’ll find here and there: occasional stained glass, ceiling medallions, and ample windows.  These little extras truly help promote the inn’s charm and comfort.

Although the inn is ON Commercial Street, it is far from loud and crazy.  The main inn offers 12 cozy, themed rooms, each with its own bathroom.  Want private accommodations?  The White Wind Cottage next door offers two-levels with a living room, wet bar, vaulted-ceiling bedroom with gas fireplace, and Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom… with the same bed and breakfast amenities that make staying here a joy (expanded Continental Breakfast, use of the Great Room at the Main House with grand piano and fireplace, daily room housekeeping, and more).

Amenities?  You certainly get them here.  The inn offers air-conditioned rooms, Wi-Fi throughout, in-room refrigerators, concierge services, in-room cable TVs with DVD systems, and phones with voice mail and data ports can be found in each room as well.  Some rooms offer gas fireplaces, balconies with sweeping views of town and/or the coastline, and Jacuzzi tubs.  Two pet-friendly rooms welcome guests with their four-legged friends.  Traveling in a group of three?  Some rooms also feature a loft bed for that additional companion.

As a bonus, there is often a cocktail gathering on Saturday evenings.  If your stay happens to be on a weekend, you may find yourself enjoying drinks of all kinds (even non-alcoholic versions), with plenty of appetizers – all provided as a courtesy by the innkeepers!

So consider the White Wind Inn, a Distinctive Inns of Provincetown member, when you plan your next Atlantic coast getaway to enjoy gracious hospitality, true bed and breakfast comfort, and amenities that rival those you’ll find at any hotel!
