The Distinctive Inns of Provincetown welcome you to two events taking place during the last weekend in September: the 2013 Tennessee Williams Theater Festival happening on September 26-27-28-29, and Pet Appreciation Weekend on September 28-29, 2013.
Tennessee Williams Theater Festival
There are many reasons Tennessee Williams continues to be one of or town’s favorite
author/playwright. First and foremost is his profound effect on the American theater through works bearing sympathy and humor about society’s outcasts and the conflicts they face by just being themselves.
Of course, there is also Williams’ orientation, his direct links to P-Town through the lovers he took whom he met here, and the fact that, not only did he enjoy visiting P-Town, but he worked on – and completed – some of his most recognized plays right here!
2013 marks the eighth year of the Tennessee Williams Theater Festival, honoring this celebrated playwright through live music and performances. During the event, we not only highlight one or two of his better-known works, but we also explore his much lesser-known creations as well.
This year’s event theme is “50% Illusion: Tennessee Williams and Women.” During this year’s festival, we will feature works with strong female leads and characters including: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore, and more. More than ten activities fill the event including a number of plays, a live film voice-over production, a 60-minute discussion about Tennessee Williams, Mississippi Blues with Eden Brent, and a Jack Daniels Tasting Dinner.
CASAS Pet Appreciation
If plays aren’t your thing, bring your pet to town for the Carrie A. Seaman Animal Shelter‘s Pet Appreciation Weekend on September 27-28-29, 2013! As a no-kill shelter, CASAS works to save the lives of animals and find homes for those who are homeless.
Pet Appreciation Weekend is a fundraising celebration event to help them achieve these goals. Attendees will enjoy gatherings, dancing, canine games, the Pet Tea Dance, Pet Parade Walk, and blessing of the animals. Pet-friendly businesses welcome both you AND your four-legged friend(s)!
The organization asks that you obtain sponsors for your walk as a small way of giving back to the organization and help them continue to operate for the next year.
No matter which of these events (if either) brings you to Provincetown at the end of September, the Distinctive Inns of Provincetown welcome you to their inns for the weekend!
