Here it comes again – that season of spooks and scares! Why not make plans to spend Halloween 2013 at your favorite Distinctive Inns of Provincetown member inn?
A variety of “official” Halloween activities happen here in town, along with several “unofficial” happenings. And wouldn’t you know, Provincetown welcomes the Bears back to town at the end of October! Have a look at all the planned happenings and choose your favorites for a weekend, or a week, of fun!
Saturday, October 26: Dance Party Kickoffs
Two different dance gatherings officially kick off the week of Halloween: The Halloween Tea Dance from 4pm to 9pm at the Boatslip (this also happens on Friday, October 25 as well), and the Ghoulish Halloween and Costume Party at Gifford House’s Porchside Bar from 9pm until 1am.
Sunday, October 27: Murder Mystery
Enjoy murder-mystery theater? The Mystery Dinner Theater (Murder Most Post-War) takes place at the Hot L Bar and Grille from 6-9:30pm.
Tuesday, October 29: Helltown On Winthrop
Starting at 7:30 pm, you can experience an immersive Halloween experience all along Winthrop Street between Commercial and Bradford Streets. While the event is open to all, any donations benefit the Provincetown Soup Kitchen (suggested donation is $5).
Thursday, October 31: Halloween itself
Costumes and revelry will be out in full force tonight! And you can choose from two different dance parties: Nightmare on Commercial Street at Crown and Anchor’s Wave Bar, and Townie Halloween at Gifford House’s Club Purgatory. You can also seek some scary thrills at The Butcher of Provincetown haunted house, whose cast of characters will have you shaking in your shoes! The Ghost Town Haunted Attraction will also leave you trembling for more (open through November 2)!
Spooky Bear Weekend
October 31 is also the official start of Provincetown’s Spooky Bear Weekend, sponsored by the Northeast Ursamen. The bears come back to town en-force to celebrate in style with a Heroes and Villians theme!
On Friday November 1, enjoy the Open House Meet and Greet at Wave Bar, Rocky Horror Picture Show viewing at the Cabaret, Saints and Sinner’s Party at Paramount Nightclub (with leather, uniforms, and more – $5 cover), and the After Hours gathering at Spiritus Pizza.
Saturday November 2 sees the Afternoon Tee T-Shirt competition at The Vault, and a continuation of Halloween with the Spooky Bear Costume Party at Paramount Nightclub (wear your favorite hero or villain costume)!
Sunday, November 3 brings the Farewell Breakfast Buffet at Paramount ($16 + tip) – a huge variety of breakfast items prepares you for your journey home.
Beaux Arts Ball
Halloween continues right through the start of November with the Beaux Arts Ball (a Marc Jacobs International event) on Saturday November 2, 2013! This Halloween costume ball is a long-time tradition here in Provincetown. Held each year in the Town Hall Building, this somewhat-crazy and rather lavish event is an annual fundraiser which helps with the Town Hall Building’s upkeep and improvements. Proceeds also go to The Provincetown Film Society, and Helping Our Women (H.O.W).
And what can you expect at this, what some call an “over-the-top” event? A fully-decorated location with an eerie atmosphere, lots of great costumes, dancing, food, and a special guest appearance by Taylor Dayne!
Tickets to the event are $125 for General Admission, and $225 for VIP Tickets (access to the private lounge and bar, goodie bag with T-shirt, AND you get to meet Ms. Dayne in person)!
You’ll notice that many of our town’s activities happen during the week of Halloween… you could easily make October your official “holiday” and spend a week here to enjoy them all! Whether you’re a local, a “bear”, or just someone who enjoys a great Halloween, this is the time to book your room at your favorite Provincetown Inn to take part in all the fun and festivities!
