Provincetown’s Unforgettable Events During Thanksgiving 2013

It’s already November, and before you know it, Holiday activities will be taking over the town!  As with most of the United States, things really start hopping the weekend after Thanksgiving here in Provincetown. Of course this means that the tip of Cape Cod is a GREAT place to spend a long Thanksgiving weekend and get into the spirit of ChristmaHanuKwanzaakah, and we’re here to fill you in on the great local activities that will do just that!

Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 5pm: Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument
Each year, the Monument is washed in lights for the holiday season, casting its beauty over the entire town. This is a popular event for the locals, welcoming the holidays to our shores!  Cookies, cider, and entertainment will be provided at the Museum.

Thanksgiving – Thursday, November 28, 2013: Come eat your fill at Fanizzi’s Restaurant (open from 2-6pm), Mews Restaurant and Cafe (open 5-8pm) and the Bistro at Crowne Pointe (open 1-7pm). Want to work off some of that great food? Head to the Atlantic House at 9:30pm for karaoke and dancing!

Friday, November 29, 2013: You can bet that the stores will be open for your shopping needs! P-town also holds its annual Art and Craft fairs this weekend. Come downtown and pick up some great holiday presents!

Friday, November 29: PBG Casino Night ensues at the Crown and Anchor! Try your luck at Blackjack, Roulette, the Money Wheel, and other favorite games starting at 8pm.

Saturday, November 30, 2013: Lighting of the Lobster Pot Tree
You’ve never seen anything like this tree! Lobster is a staple of our community-by-the-sea, and we honor both this tradition and the holiday by setting light to our 2-story “tree” of more than 100 lobster pots and over 1000 lights!  Assembled by artist Julian Popko and his family, you’ll find the tree in Lopes Square (by Macmillan Pier), where you’ll be treated to hot chocolate at 5:30pm and the sight of the giant tree-topper being placed before lighting.

With so much happening, it’ll be a delight to spend Thanksgiving in P-town during this quieter season. Make reservations at your favorite Distinctive Inns of Provincetown member bed and breakfast, and enjoy all our traditions during a cozy Thanksgiving getaway!
