Provincetown Theater 2014 Season Productions

Looking for a little theatrical culture during your Provincetown bed and breakfast getaway?  Look no further than the Provincetown Theater!
Since 1963, the Provincetown Theater Company has offered stage productions of all types at a number of locations.  Consisting of a mix of professional, semi-professional, and non-professional talent, the group made it a point to offer a wide variety of entertainment including plays by both local and established playwrights, staged readings, and musical reviews.  By 1973 the group had expanded and garnered nonprofit status, and eventually developed a relationship which garnered them a permanent place to perform where they could plan regular year-round seasons.
The and the lineup for the 2014 season has not only been announced, but it is now in play (pardon the pun):
Bent by Martin Sherman
March 14-16, 20-23, and 27-30
A 1979 play set in 1934 Nazi Germany during the persecution of known gays.  ADULT CONTENT.
A Perfect Ganesh by Terrance McNally
May 29-June 1, June 5-8, and June 12-15
Considered one of the best plays by Mr. McNally, A Perfect Ganesh follows two women who travel to India to find inner peace, and end up on a wild journey led by the Indian god Ganesha.
Hamlet by William Shakespeare
June-September
The Peregrine Theatre Ensemble takes the stage for this Shakespearean classic.  When Prince Hamlet’s father, the king, is murdered by his uncle Claudius and marries his mother, Prince Hamlet plots revenge.  The struggle between Claudius and Hamlet is followed to the play’s tragic ending.  Specific dates have yet to be posted.

July-September
Also presented by the Peregrine Theatre Ensemble.  This rock musical is based on the Puccini Opera La boheme and follows a group of poor young artists and musicians living in New York City who live lives overshadowed with HIV/AIDS.  Specific dates have yet to be posted.
Provincetown Theater is located at 238 Bradford Street (also known as 6A which parallels Commercial Street to the north), and is within two miles of every Distinctive Inns of Provincetown member bed and breakfast.  Tickets to confirmed shows can be purchased at Provincetown Theater’s website.  So plan your visit, get your tickets, and reserve a room at your favorite DIOP member inn for a fantastic summer vacation!
