The way to someone’s heart is usually through their stomach… and Provincetown has a great selection of eateries of almost any flavor to keep our guests hearts happy during their Cape Cod Wochenende! In the following months, we are going to do our best to mix in posts on some of the favorite, and best-rated restaurants here in town with our regular content. We hope this will give guests an idea of the amazing and varied food options that can be found here!
429 Commercial Street his home to Mews Restaurant and Cafe. Perfect for a celebration or special evening out, their eclectic offers amazing flavors of both land and sea.
It may be true that, early in their existence, the restaurant had a rough time of it. However, experience and expertise have done amazing things for The Mews. & Nbsp; In der Tat, the past two years have seen reviews go through the roof!
Named for it’s original, less-accessible location (in Britain, mews are stables buried in the back of a piece of property), The Mews can now be found between Commercial Street and the Provincetown Harbor. This, of course, means that many tables in the eatery feature ocean views. Because of the building’s restricted size, noise does travel easily, so if you’re looking for a quieter dinner, ask for downstairs seating where bar noise isn’t invasive.
The Mews’ offered fare is mostly American with highlights of Indian and Asian here and there. You’ll find everything from seafood to beef, chicken, pork, veal, and even duck for the meat lovers.
A potential vegetarian dinner at Mews may consist of an appetizer of Tempura of Asparagus, Baked Eggplant & Salad Greens, Tofu & Cauliflower Vindaloo, Pasta with Fresh Basil Pesto, Roasted Vegetable and Polenta Tower, or Sauteed Porcini & Cremini Mushroom Ravioli. And of course there are the requisite meatless salads as well.
What ranks highest on the menu? Pretty much everything, from what we’ve tasted! Food is so consistently good here that it’s difficult to choose favorites, especially when your favorite will depend on your dining mood. So order what looks good – we’re sure you won’t be disappointed!
If you happen to have room, there is a full dessert menu which includes a few off-menu seasonal options (rhubarb crumble, anyone?) and amazing standards. You really can’t go wrong – if you’re concerned about trying something, by all means order it first to make sure you have room!
And don’t forget to visit for Sunday brunch if you want a heavier meal for your travels.
Reservations are HIGHLY recommended – the earlier you can make them the better (the restaurant recommends at least 3 days in advance). You can make reservations through their Webseite or by calling 508-487-1500. If there are cancellations and your group is small, there may be a slim chance of being seated when you walk in, provided that all party members are present.
If you decide to splurge on a meal during your P-Town vacation, The Mews is certainly worth considering for its delicious food, great location and wonderful service!
